With the ongoing crackdown on illegal and pirated software in the
Philippines, i think this is beneficial to Ubuntu in particular and the
open-source movement in general. i have been asked a more than 5 times
already how to implement linux in an internet cafe setting or small
business environment.
mga kaibigan, i think the time is right to be more active in promoting
linux to new users. chris' idea of seminars specifically for internet
cafe operators and small business owners is great idea. maybe we could
all help out spread the message.
my suggestion is a to start drafting a how-to guide in implementing
ubuntu/linux in an internet cafe setting. i am an internet cafe owner
too before i left philippines and my cousin is still managing it. i
know their is a learning curve for the customers but it is more
practical than having to pay M$ licensing and the fines that come if you
get raided by BSA.
hope to hear ideas from you all..
