Hi folks
Thanks for all those that have replied. I managed to get a 1TB drive - which fitted the motherboard just fine.
Then had fun trying the various suggestions from you - and ended up doing some more research on the net.
However when i tried the -----> dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/dev/sdb1 method - Ubuntu asked for a sudo pw - and when i gave that- it denied permission
Ubuntu does not have a root PW and it is the ONLY PW I use or have to use.
To cut a long story short - i ended up doing a live install from CD - fetched Kcron and rsync and gparted of the net and then remounted the old HD as a slave and copied all *doc etc files to the new HD (the copy part took 30 min) and then re-connected the internal network via Samba and reset the rsync and Kcron program.
That took less time then the figuring out why ubuntu did not let me use a sudo PW. - weird
Now i have a "spare" 80 gig HD - hmmmm wonder if i should mount it as a spare hd in another box!
Only question is - how do I default the saving of *doc files automaically to that ? ?
Cheers
Reinhold
