Since we're on the topic of introductions, I may as well introduce
myself to people.
I'm Andrew Mitchell, in Dunedin, and am a volunteer developer on the core
development team of Ubuntu, as well as being a Debian developer.
Whilst people may think that all the Ubuntu developers are Canonical
employees, over half of the people on the ubuntu-core-dev team are
volunteers like myself. However, I'm the only developer from NZ at the
moment, and I'd like that to change.
I've been using Linux for about 8 years now, and using computers for
perhaps 8 years before that. Of those 8 years, the first 2-3 were with
Mandrake, and in 2000, I switched over to Debian (and didn't look back).
Liking the Free Software ideals & starting at university in 2001, I
decided to start on Debian packaging & soon got caught up in the world
of development.
I'd love to see this team become active & rival our neighbours - I know
there's a lot of interest in Ubuntu in this country, and I think that
can do a lot more to promote & support it.
Thanks,
Andrew
