Sorry for late reply Joachim,
I have forwarded this mail to our ubuntu loco teams mailing list too. I hope
it will attract more volunteers for the work. Personally I am also keen
about supporting those lil' monks :).

P.S:(This may take some time to respond as Whole country is busy in CA
election dated 10th april.)

Dear Ankur,

you are probably wondering about getting an email from germany.

I read your address on the Ubuntu sites. As you are member of the Ubuntu
Nepal team and supporting the OLPC I thought that it would be worth a trial
to contact you.

We visited Nepal twice and we made friendship with a really nice woman in
Kathmandu who takes care about now 47 children living in a Monastry near
Swayambunath. Once I suggested that the monks should also get in contact
with the modern media and learn how to use them. The teachers of the little
monks liked this idea.

Ok - to make a longer story short. Within the next days I will send a
notebook to Kathmandu. I have installed the newest Ubuntu Hardy distribution
on it. As all the monks in the Monastry are computer novices they probably
would need some assistance from time to time.
So what I would like to ask you if you could give them a bit support in
maintaining the notebook and to teach them how to use Linux. Or - if you are
not able to that - if you would know somebody else who would be willing to
do such a job.

The problem for me is that they do not have any Internet access (not even a
phone line, at least in the childrens home). So I can' help or just with
very very big delays.

Ok - that's what I wanted to ask you. I would really appreciate if you could
give me any information how I could organize some help for the monks.

Sincerely
Viele Gruesse
