In grub browservoorrang wijzigen

Beste Coos,
Volgens mij haal je een aantal dingen door elkaar.
1) In je subject heb je het over 'browservoorrang wijzigen'. Ik neem aan
dat je zelf ook wel weet dat GRUB helemaal niets met je browser doet. Zo
niet, dan weet je dit nu :-)
2) Vervolgens heb je het erover dat je de opstartvolgorde wilt wijzigen.
Wat wil je dan precies - de fysieke volgorde van de items in de GRUB
lijst aanpassen omdat je dit mooier / beter vindt staan, of wil je dat
je systeem standaard een andere pakt dan dat 'ie nu doet?
In het eerste geval ben je wel even bezig want dan zul je je menu.lst
behoorlijk moeten verbouwen. Bovendien is het maar de vraag wat GRUB
hier van heel laat bij de eerstvolgende kernel update/upgrade.
In het tweede geval heb ik een simpele tip voor je - vrijwel bovenaan in
het menu.lst-bestand staat een regel die heet 'default'. Verander de
waarde die achter 'default' staat (0) naar 'saved' (zonder de
aanhalingstekens). Dit houdt in dat GRUB zal onthouden welk item je uit
je lijst als laatste hebt opgestart, en bij de volgende herstart dit
item meteen selecteren.
Wat betreft de foutmelding die je krijgt als je met gedit menu.lst
probeert te bewerken - Dit heeft volgens mij niets met je GRUB te maken,
klinkt meer alsof gedit niet lekker met gnome babbelt als je 'm via
gksudo opstart. Misschien weet iemand anders op de mailinglijst waar
deze foutmelding vandaan komt... Wat gebeurt er als je in de console
gewoon gedit (dus zonder gksudo en zonder bestandsnaam) intikt?
Als alternatief voor gedit kan ik je ook 'mc' (sudo aptitude install mc)
aanraden. Is gewoon een console tool, als je vroeger onder DOS ooit met
Norton Commander of onder Windows met Total Commander hebt gewerkt zul
je je hier vrij snel in thuis voelen.
Als je hiermee menu.lst wilt bewerken start je 'm op met
sudo mc
Vervolgens navigeer je met de pijltjetoetsen en de Enter-toets
naar /boot/grub/menu.lst (commando's intikken werkt echter ook) en dan
druk je op F4 (Edit). Onderin het scherm staat welke functietoetsen wat
doen.
