[ubuntu-mythtv] IR RX and TX with lirc

Hi,
I'm using Mythbuntu 9.10, and I have a question about setting up lirc to
work with a separate receiver and transmitter.

My transmitter is a simple serial transmitter (LED, diode and resistor on
serial port), my receiver is an usb-irboy.

I had the transmitter working, and now that I have the receiver working as
well, the transmitter does not work any more.

Can they work together on lirc?  How do I setup lirc's harware.conf to do
this?  Will I have to recompile lirc to get it to work maybe?  Or do I just
have to setup the hardware.conf correctly?
