[ubuntu-my] Installing Ubuntu on Acer laptops

sound is one of the major issues with many laptops. with Ubuntu now, it
can usually be solved by checking settings in the sound configuration.
you may need to enable all the "switches" in right-click on speaker
icon, choose Open Volume Control, Preferences. things to look out for
are items like Speaker, External Speaker, External Amplifier etc. if
unsure, tick all and try those settings.

checks for sound can be made in "gstreamer-properties" but that may be
different for Ubuntu running pulseasudio or alsa.
