Unfortunately I'm not seeing anything really suspicious in the journal.

Could you try to downgrade to 68.0.2+build1 (you'll need to fetch the
packages manually from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/68.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1)
and see if that version is affected too?
