[Bug 1122074] [NEW] typing in address bar gets stuck after suggestions vanish

how to reproduce:

open new tab, click into the address bar, start typing. during first few
keystrokes the suggestions are opened and matches are shown. but
immediately after the sting is so long that it does not match anything
in the history, the keystrokes are lost, typing stops. i have to move
mouse pointer back to the address bar and click again into the box in
order to continue typing.

this is quite annoying since i have to click twice and pay attention at
which character the thing stops working...

[this might be relevant (?), desktop: xfce, focus follows mouse,
autoraise]
