I forgot to mention I am experiencing this with the following printer:

   Location:	Home
   Driver:	Brother HL-5250DN BR-Script3 (grayscale, 2-sided printing)

   Defaults:	job-sheets=none, none media=na_letter_8.5x11in sides=two-sided-long-edge
