I was having trouble with this previously, but was trying to put out to
many other fires to investigate it. This has now bubbled to the top. I
am having this problem with:

   $lsb_release -a
   No LSB modules are available.
   Distributor ID:	Ubuntu
   Description:	Ubuntu 11.04
   Release:	11.04
   Codename:	natty

   $uname -a 
   Linux <machine> 2.6.38-11-generic-pae #50-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 12 22:21:04 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

   $ sudo dpkg-query -W | sort -n | grep firefox
   firefox	7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1
   firefox-branding	7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1
   firefox-globalmenu	7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1
