On the other hand, I just tried installing from Synaptic and now have
OpenPGP in my TB. In other words, a version issue with downloaded xpi's.
And in looking carefully (my bad!) TBird 3.0.9 will not show enigmail as
an available add-in -- it shows several really strange packages instead,
though the download site for Enigmail implies it should work.
