** Description changed:
Binary package hint: firefox
I think it was after updating from 9.04 tu 9.10 when it happened the
first time. But i was not able to reproduce this. Until now.

After a while everything is frozen, but the last half second of sound is repeated in an endless loop. The monitor shows the desktop, browser and last video frame but is frozen.
No mouse, no keybord is working. The hdd shows no activity (this makes me sure, that the kernel crashed within). There is nothing unusual in the logs.
I run an Dell Latitude E4300 laptop with ubuntu 10.10 everything fresh,
only sources from Ubuntu (beside truecrypt, virtual box [non-free
version], pinta (a paint tool], all installed from downloaded debs).
My graphics is shown as "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics
Controller", the driver is i915. I installed xserver-xorg-video-intel-
dbg. I hope that it wrote something into a log?

edit1:Switch video to full screen.
edit2: If The video runs not in fullscreen mode, the crash still
appears, but later (I proved it!). Last crash appeared at 14:45 (i
jumped from 0:00 to 6:00), the sound loops in a noise (not from movie) +
"Wir haben genau zugehört".
edit3: (1) I've tried to watch the same video with chromium (7.0.517.44 (64615) Ubuntu 10.10): It runs from 0:00 to 5:58, then my linux crashed. (2) Here is, what lspci told me about my graphic controller: "$ lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)"
edit4: I dont know what happened: I can't watch any video (with
webbrowser)! It crashes after viewing a few short clips. I will test it
with a downloaded video and see what happens - after i made additional
backups. But i remember that i had earlier hang-ups whe watching mp4 or
flash videos with Totem Video player (not Rythmnbox).
I made a hardware check wich the BIOS of my machine provides. It includes much memory checking with checks named like "PMOVI Test", "PRndMchC Test" or "XMATS32 Test". It works almost an hour, then it said:
"Pre-boot System Assessment complete. No Diagnostic Utility Partition identified. Please select OK to reboot your system. [OK]"
- edit 5: I watched 3 mgep-videos (2:00 min, 2:30, 12:00 minutes long / the latter is 250,2 MB) with Totem Video player in XFCE: No crash. The videos was made with a Sony cybershot, model 2004,
+ edit 5: I watched 3 mgep-videos (2:00 min, 2:30, 12:00 minutes long / the latter is 250,2 MB) with Totem Video player in XFCE: No crash. The videos was made with a Sony cybershot, model 2004,
"file /home/.../MOV00341.MPG
/home/.../MOV00341.MPG: MPEG sequence, v1, system multiplex"
I watched the biggest one (12:00 minutes long / 250,2 MB data) in Firefox: No crash!
Are this two bugs? 1) random crashes, 2) crashes because of using the
flash player? If this is true, i want to bust the (2) bug here.
Another fact: I run often two VMs in virtual box (512 and 1024 MB RAM,
Windows XP), most of the time one of them, sometimes both. One crash at
all, with ubuntu 9.10.

+ edit 6: It seems, that there are two bugs. (see edit 5) This bug shall
+ deal with bug (2). I was able to play the downloaded flash video
+ http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7738875006134609643# (see
+ above) with vlc and XFCE! From 00:00 to 20:12 i watched in original
+ solution, then i switched to fullscreen until the end at 43:31. NO
+ CRASH! => This seems to be a bug with Firefox and Flash!
