I'm also seeing this but have no idea how to reproduce it; helpful, huh?
I have seen this on Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10, both 32-bit and 64-bit.  The
only add-ons are the default Ubuntu Modification, Adblock, and
Flashblock.

I think it's the FF autocomplete that's awry?  The problem mostly
happens for me in the URL window but my wife reports it happening in
Gmail text fields.
