Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Program: Thunderbird
Program Version: v2-0-0-12 b20080227
OS: Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy
Category: User Interface
Subject: Folder renaming

When creating folders for email organization the naming of created
folders can contain both upper and lower case letters, however
Thunderbird seems to store the folder names in a single case. The
effect of this is such that if I create a folder named "TOM" and decide
that I want to rename it to "Tom" I get an error message stating that
the folder already exist. In order to change the name I have to first
rename the folder to an arbitrary name such as "a" and then rename the
folder properly.

ie:
To rename "TOM" to "Tom" the user must rename "TOM"->"a"->"Tom".
Instead of directly renaming "TOM"->"Tom"
