This is a function of what the web server returns via the Host:
parameter.

For example, type http://limboportal.com/ and it will remain as
http://limboportal.com/.

But http://google.com/ will become http://www.google.com/, because:

HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently
Location: http://www.google.com/

For sites that have no DNS entry (e.g. skeepie.it) Firefox will
automatically try www.skeepie.it and since that's the last thing that
was tried, that's what is showed in the address bar.  I'm not sure how
this is a problem.
