ok, i think a real fix might be too hard to get soon. However, I want to
do something about this .... so I try to find margins/bounds that at
least does not cut off header and footer for most.

Can you confirm that these bounds fix this issue for you:

     File > Print Setup > Margins & Headers/Footers
          Top: 0.5 Left: 0.5 Right: 0.8 Bottom: 0.8

     File > Print > Properties
          Top: 0.25 Bottom: 0.5 Left: 0.25 Right: 0.5
