sorry, i've got that alittle backwards... it has been afew weeks.

Ubuntu/Debian's change changes the option in about:config
"browser.link.open_newwindow" to 2. Without updating wherever the gui is
pulling its data from... so what happens is the core is set to 2 (2 is
open in window) while the gui is saying it is set to open in a new tab
(which is value 3) this is all by default. Sure the user can fix this
easily by clicking on the radio button for open in tab (which is 3) and
it will fix in it the gui & core, but that's not the point. the point is
that it is retarded by default.

Hopefully my experiment with removing the Ubuntu/Debian change will
result in the correct behavior. (gui & core set to 3 by default). If
Ubuntu/Debian wish to change the default behavior to open in a new
window... then it's not acceptable to just change it at the core as this
will upset new users who want it to be @ tab and look at the gui and see
it set to tab so they think it will be fine and then get burnt.

Tho, why on earth the gui pulls this setting from elsewhere other than
where about:config gets its info i have no idea... that's probably the
reason this is retarded in the first place.
