a practical suggestion:
let us list the default applications that are yet to be translated.
i guess that is most of multimedia baring rthymbox, oo and the graphic tools

try to find if anyone is working on it.
if that info is not avble translate it taking the risk.
if we can contact that person offer to translate it.
we can upload the file in both sites.
that way we can make sure it is unlikely to change.
they will also be happy with some help
