Self Introduction

Hi everyone,

I just joined the list and since there wasn't much that appeared to be going
on in the list, I thought that doing a self introduction wouldn't be a bad
thing to do.

I am a final year student at Africa Nazarene University studying Computer
Science and a Linux fan too. I have tried Red Hat Linux 9 and several
debian-based distros, one of which is Ubuntu. I like it - it's not that bad,
but there are certain issues that I thought perhaps I could get help on from
list members regarding installing applications using tarballs. Ubuntu says
that my gcc cannot create executables - so I am unable to install
applications.

If someone can help me solve this problem, I will be really grateful.

P.S. I do not have an internet connection, so web-based repositories won't
do me any good for now :-)
