[ubuntu-it] Aiuto configurazione Xorg.conf

Ciao a tutti,
mi sono appena reiscritto alla mailing list, dopo
qualche mese di latitanza, fresco della mia nuova
installazione di Ubuntu 7.10
Ho un problema che da quel che ho capito googolando un
po' e cercando su vari forum è risolvibile modificando
bene il file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
In pratica Ubuntu è installato sul mio portatile,
dove c'è una scheda video Intel® Graphics Media
Accelerator 950 e un monitor TFT LCD 12,1 pollici WXGA
1280x800.
I driver utilizzati per la scheda video sonogli
Intel-experimental, che sembrano andare benissimo: ho
installato Compiz Fusion e gli effetti sono fluidi
(oltre che molto piacevoli ^_^).
I problemi nascono quando provo a collegare un monitor
esterno al portatile (un ReliSys JM777, a 1024x768).
Riesco comunque a vedere qualcosa sullo schermo,
ma i caratteri non sono nitidi, inoltre il desktop
risulta tagliato (mentre sul portatile tutto continua
a vedersi bene).
Ho provato a smanettare un po' nelle opzioni
SISTEMA-->AMMINISTRAZIONE-->SCHERMI E GRAFICA,
ma qualsiasi tentativo tento non riesco a risolvere il
problema, inoltre con alcune configurazioni mi cambia
i driver della scheda video usati a VESA GENERIC.
La mia domanda è questa:
è possibile configurare X in modo che le cose
funzionano bene sia quando uso il portatile da solo
che quando vi attacco il monitor? (magari facendo in
modo che se c'è il monitor esterno, quello del
portatile si spegne?).
Altri aiuti graditi sarebbero per riuscire a
configurare anche le varie modalità tipo Desktop
Esteso etc etc etc.
Scusate per la lunga email spero di non avervi nnoiato
troppo.
qui in calce vi riporto anche il mio file di
configurazione così magari riuscite a capire meglio in
cosa è sbagliata la configurazione.
