Thanks Scott, I only saw it on i386 and it made no sense with the changes
that were made.

right I tried an alpha 6 and beta for i386, under both I could log in
fine but the logs ended once user space took over.

yep, that is why I left them up a couple hours, and kept checking their
logs.  But I also remember that chuck had mentioned in the past we had
intermittent problems with the logs getting dropped, so I was wondering if it
was just me, or perhaps just a hicough at Amazon, so I wanted some other testing
and was planning to rerun it this morning.
