Alternative methods for inserting preseed files

Why exactly do you need iso9660? Can't you boot off an ext3 virtual
hard disk with grub (and preseed) as opposed of a virtual CD and then
load up the real CD? Anyway feel free to continue the discussion over
#ubuntu-installer, I am xivulon in there.
