Hi

wanted to share two software that are very nice to use (both are available
as apt-get or in the repos)

1. RedNotebook
a very easy to use daily journal with tonnes of features with a superb
search facility,
Its also very easy to print sections across the many days to many formats -
html, pdf , latex and it can be made to look good as well with pics and
drawings etc.

It has a separate to do column - however this is not a persistent to -do and
is not so nice to keep track of jobs

Over all if any one is looking for a comprehensive easy to use daily journal
then this is one of the best.

2. Digikam Light Table

For people with fast cameras, tonnes of data card space (but limited HD
space) and a penchant to use multiple exposures this is an absolute
blessing . Digikam Light table is not a stand alone software but a part of
digikam.

People who have worked with older slide transparencies or film negatives
will realize the value of this tool , similar to the original light tables.

It provides the ability to analyze many similar pictures at the same time
(two active with a quick method to flip through the rest) - it has an easy
zoom option and allows moving around the images - with the second kind of
mirrored, to check our various parts of the pictures and figure out which
to keep. Deleting ones not required are very easy just click on the image
and delete (del)

**

These are not comprehensive reviews of the software , just a sharing of
something that seem nice.

enjoy
ram
