+1, I have done the same. I want to also use default ext4 with cryptfs 
support. I have also migrated my Thunderbird, Firefox, xchat, ssh, gnupg 
hidden config directories to maintain my same work environment with 
fresh installation, though it is also working fine with upgrade from 
9.04 to 9.10.

Also, Ubuntu 9.10 installation contains Ubuntu Features tour while 
installation :). Ain't it amazed you? Also you can see significant fast 
boot, suspend / resume if you have ssd  (Solid State Drive) in your 
m/c. You can also try, if you are early enthusiastic to see changes :)
