As far as I know, desktop applications are not tuned based on the
architecture. So probably you won't see much difference.
In addition you may face a problem where some proprietary applications
(flash, skype) are only available for 32 bit.

If your Sony digi cam is detected and works on 32 bit then it will
work on 64 bit as well.
