[ubuntu-in] Desktop Effects could not enabled

Dear friends,
    I have a unique problem, everything was working fine until recently,
desktop effects got disabled but my graphics driver is installed(Nvidia
8400GT).
I reinstalled driver, tried everything i could. Can any one of you help me.
