Looks like your boot sector is locked by some other OS. Tell me one thing,
while installing Ubuntu have you seen that Ubuntu setup asked you about
boot/GRUB option?

Other suggestion is that install Interpeid Ibex from the boot menu instead
of first starting it from the DVD and then install it. Hope it will work :)
