[ubuntu-in] ubuntu9.04 problem

Dear Members , 
Im Sagar.Pinninti from banglore, working in the linux admin role .

I faced the following problems with ubuntu9.04 
1.
My server is in centos5.2 all clients are in ubuntu7.10 yet , i tried
wit one my cleint with fresh installation but  i got te problem in
migrating the client to server (i.e)
exporting the /home to server , the client couldnot able to bind with centos5.2-i386 server

2. vim is not installed by default in this 9.04

3.even
if we issue the ip in graphical mode after rebooting server,the ip is
not standard i mean ip is not stable still i make entries in terminal
mode in /etc/network/interfaces file .
 Other two are the minor
things ,the major problem is migrating the  clients . If i could do tat
i can change all my clients into 9.04

 files
