hello geeks,
         Jaya Foss Club(JFC) of Jaya Engineering College, Chennai is going
to celebrate Software Freedom Day on 20th September 2008, we expect around
3000 members (including staff and students ) to attend this celebration day
(its not like traditional college program rather a real software freedom day
celebration ) to celebrate  the 25th birthday of GNU, this event is open for
all the students of Jaya Engineering College (including Mechanical,
automobile and other non cse department ).We got a lot  of events to be
held on this day to promote awareness about the Free and Open Source
Software.The events are as follow

           1. Online Quiz (online)
                 Online Quiz for students and staff on Free and Open Source
Softwares .
           2.Web Puzzle (online)
           3.Evolution Of FOSS (Video)
                 A five minutes video to visualize the past, present and
future of FOSS.
           4.FOSS in India(talk)
                 The purpose of the talk is to bring awareness about the
local Linux communities like ilugc, ubuntu-in, ubuntu-tam and their
activities bug-jam,mailing list,Forums etc .
           5.Why should I migrate to FOSS(talk)
           6.How to migrating From proprietary to Open Source (talk)
           7.Seven Wonders of FOSS (demo stall)
                   It's a demo stall to explain about the well established
softwares from various domains in FOSS
                         1.GNU/Linux Distros - Ubuntu
                         2.Programming Language - Python
                         3.Web Server - Apache
                         4.Database Server - MySQL
                         5.Web Applications - Wiki
                         6.Web Browser - Firefox
                         7.Software Development – Source forge
            8.Terminal Hack (on stage )
                   Technical Treasure-Hunt like event to test students skill
on Linux commands.
            9.Multimedia and Gaming in FOSS:
                   A Demonstration of Multimedia and Gaming in FOSS.

                   Feedback about the celebration day
            11.Grab The Gadgets (Price distribution)
                   This is an interactive session where students can grab
the gadgets like cds, pens, dolls, t-shirts by answering the simple
questions.
