Can someone confirm this with the latest feisty beta:

1. during installation, select Hindi as the default language for install and
programs. After install is complete, see if the Hindi locale is utf8 enabled by
default. This can be done by:

a) opening a konsole or gnome-terminal window and

~$ locale -a | grep hi_IN.utf8

If this shows up hi_IN.utf8, then this means that you can have hindi filenames
etc. This is critical for a proper hindi desktop.

2. After installing the hindi openoffice language pack, open openoffice and try
to type any string with more than one hindi character. On my system, openoffice
with the hindi language pack is useless because I can only type the first letter
of any word, i.e, no Hindi character that is not a) the first character in the
file, OR b) preceded by a space appears.

please guys, let's fix this problem before feisty is released. This has been an
issue with Dapper as well.

thanks,
