[ubuntu-in] Ubuntu on Pentium Dual Core

Friends,

   Those of you using Ubuntu on machines with Intel Pentium Dual Core
processor, please share your experiences here. 

   The x86 version of Ubuntu seems to have *some* problem with Dual
Core. The CPU easily jumps up to its 100% usage. I've observed that Dual
core with Ubuntu x86 version is more slower than older CPUs.

   The download page on ubuntulinux.org suggests amd64 version of it for
machines with Intel Dual core processors (these processors have EM64T
support). Has anyone tried this?
