I am running 15.04 on a MacBook Pro and Air. I am seeing that unless I set
my GTK theme to High Contrast texts on Software Center and some websites
are almost impossible to read. Has anyone else ran into this?

Are you using dark theme? or Numix GTK theme and dark theme?

Some apps show text in white on a white background or black text on a
black background, making it impossible to read. Is this what you're
referring to?

You can edit the CSS file for the Software Centre to make the text
black. I can send you a link explaining this if you want.

Never had this problem with Firefox and Chromium. GNOME Web does have
this problem though, It can be considered a bug.

Regards
Leo

No problem. Here's the info:

"1) Open up a terminal and type:
Code:

gksudo gedit /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.css

2) The first two lines should look like this:
Code:

@define-color light-aubergine #DED7DB;
@define-color super-light-aubergine #F4F1F3;

Copy and paste those two lines right below then comment out the
originals. Change the two HTML color codes (#DED7DB and #F4F1F3) to your
preferred dark colors so that light text will show up.

3) Save and close gedit. Launch Ubuntu Software Center to check out the
results"

This is actually should be reported as a bug to the Ubuntu GNOME team.
They probably already know about it. Maybe there's an easy way of
automatically selecting a different CSS file when dark theme is
selected. It's a super easy fix.

With regards to the other issue. Which web browser is the problem in?

I'm using the Numix window theme with the Adwaitia GTK+ theme which work
fine.

Hope that helps
Leo
