Perhaps that was in the past. Sadly, not anymore. You may know that the
'main' focus of Ubuntu Team is not GNOME anymore. Note that Ubuntu GNOME,
while it is using the same core system and repertoires of Ubuntu, we're
totally different community and somehow different system as well. Yes,
we're affected with most of the changes that Ubuntu will have, such as the
Release Schedule but we still can make our own decisions as long as these
will not affect Ubuntu in a negative or bad way.
Ubuntu now is using Unity.

Don't get me wrong but there are a huge job being done behind the scenes.
Yes, I'm not a developer but I know how tough it is to do even the simplest
thing that some other who are not heavily involved think it is a piece of
cake. No, it is not :)
I now have my own system called ToriOS and I've been struggling for two
months just to get the first pre-alpha ready.
Point is, it might be easier for us to wish or think loudly but when it
comes to reality, it is not that easy. At least, for now.

Personally and honestly, I'd care 'less' about Ubuntu GNOME 14.10. It is a
very bad idea, IMHO, to worry about that.
We got the LTS status:
http://ubuntugnome.org/lts-status/
We're less than 24 hours from the final beta:
http://ubuntugnome.org/trusty-tahr-beta-2-candidate/
We must work hard on this release. Once we're on 14.10 cycle, only then we
can start to worry about that.
So, the short answer to your Q is: I have no idea and no one can answer
that Q :)
It is about time ;)
Thank you!
