Gnome & Unity

Hello,
For my home PC, I have developed an appreciation for the GNOME community and their simplification of the desktop environment. However, my wife has become accustomed to Unity interface, as Ubuntu handed it to us and when the replaced the Gnome desktop environment. I have lately been running with my login as Gnome-shell and hers as Unity. However, with Ubuntu 12.10, I seem to be getting lots of nuisance crashes. I've resolved some of these with the GNOME3-team PPA and a Dist Upgrade.
Looking forward to Ubuntu 13.04, I already have planned to perform a re-install. I planning this in conjunction with a hard drive upgrade, so I will import user settings but not the full HOME drive (nice fresh start). I am hoping to get her to appreciate the Gnome 3 desktop environment as I do. If I fail, however, she will want Unity reinstalled. So, should I start with UbuntuGNOME to provide the most vanilla Gnome experience for her? If I do, how well can I install the Unity desktop environment alongside UbuntuGNOME after the initial install? Or, should I install Ubuntu 13.04 and then install the Gnome3 desktop environment (not necessarily the best Gnome experience) to ease reverting back to Unity if she doesn't appreciate GNOME as well as I do?
Any and all input is much appreciated,Ken
