[ec2] Can't contact instance

What did you change when you made your AMI?  Did you change any ssh
configs or install a firewall of some sort?  Maybe change the apparmor
config in some way?

I'm seeing some strange permission errors when it tried to mount your
root file system:

Begin: Mounting root file system... ...
scsi_id[1340]: scsi_id: unable to access parent device of '/block/sdb'
Done.

Did you perhaps change some permissions or the fstab?

Just throwing out a couple of things I would look at in the hopes it
helps lead you down the path. :)
