What you propose seems O.K. to me.
If a subject matter expert is willing to contribute to the Ubuntu 
serverguide, then we will be as flexible as is reasonable to make it
happen.
Submit a Merge Proposal.
There is also a pending very small, but significant, change to Samba,
so we'll look into doing a point release soon.
