Hello Stephen, Doug,
Finally I managed to get System Settings work in Xenial. After reading
all your information, I decided to remove Unity8 and then only did this:
sudo apt-get install unity8-desktop-session-mir
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ci-train-ppa-service/stable-phone-overlay
As for the web browser "Browser", which I installed in Unity7, I can
open it in Unity 8, use Google Search and get a list of results. As soon
as I click on a site, however, Unity8 crashes and I can only do a
restart by pushing the button on my desktop machine (cold start). I will
add some information from the crash report in the LP bug [1], see below.
I have also used Apport to send the crash report to Ubuntu, but I do not
know where it lands.
