Hi :)
I think the xref is a clickable link that takes the reader to somewhere
useful. So as Stephen Webb suggests for the em tags i think it is probably
good to use those xref tags the first time Dash is mentioned in any
document (or as a footnote) but not for subsequent uses.
I am not sure if the xref tags have an effect on formatting. I think it
depends on how the css scripts are set-up but i'm not sure. So the xref
tags probably do have an effect - if they don't then it would probably be
good to add the <em></em> tags around "Dash" too - treat as brackets, ie so
either both ems outside the xrefs or both inside.
