Hi All,

Here's my summary from the meeting last Sunday.

How does everyone feel about having the meetings every other week for now?
To me it seems like enough time between meetings to actually get stuff done,
while still being short-enough between them so that we can stay on top of
what we're working on. Thoughts?

Also, if you have any reactions to the topics mentioned below, feel free to
start a new thread about them on the ML.

Thanks to everyone who was able to participate,

Jim

--------------------------
June 12th meeting minutes

Default application help:
- Gnome docs team is progressing with creating topic-stubs for apps that
need updated documentation. This will help create a framework of docs that
are easy for new people to contribute to, and will also get us closer to
having good docs for apps that are installed by default.
- These docs will primarily be for apps released with Gnome 3.2.
- We feel confident that Ubuntu will feature Gnome 3.2 apps, but we need to
confirm this.

Team strategy document
- Jim is still working on the team strategy document. No big update on that
for this week.

Web help platform
- Attendees at the meeting felt confident that those who have access to
Ubuntu would also have access to the web, and generally felt ok with having
most of our help originated out on the web. Even vtanthropologist, who has
lived in a developing country has seen anyone with access to a pc having
access to the web. This may mean that we would have some help that is
available online that isn't on-disk.
- The server team has expressed interest in moving their docs to something
similar to docs.openstack.org, and Jim is working on a draft version of the
server guide, using the appropriate build tools.
- There's an interest in using a platform like support.mozilla.org for
web-based desktop help. This may mean having separate desktop- and
server-help toolchains.
- Getting the server docs updated for 11.10 while working on a web-help
platform for 12.04 in parallel seemed like a reasonable approach for now.
- We don't currently have much in the way of resources for help in building
an online help presence.

Docs team blog
- Matthew East has sent a note to Canonical's sysadmins about use of
docs.ubuntu.com. No word back from them yet.
- We discussed several other Ubuntu groups that have blogs: a11y, server
team, edubuntu, design team, etc.

Ubuntu Wiki
- Connor Imes has been deleting outdated and unmaintained wiki pages on the
wiki
- We could use help on tagging pages that need to be updated or just removed
- There are some pages on the wiki that are translated. (See
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NlBluetooth and
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RussianDocumentation as examples)
- Connor agreed to address the wiki page translations on the ML
- Jim agreed to write a blog entry about the wiki tagging.
