documenting my effort to get my wi-fi working

Hello
I'm interested in contributing to documentation (as a means of
making the transition from a programming/analysis college course
to getting work as a Technical Writer).

I will be using my laptop (a Fujitsu Esprimo /1.3GHz CPU
/750Mb Ram).

I thought I could begin by documenting my effort to get my
wi-fi working with Ubuntu 10.04.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions where to start, or where
else I would best be advised to begin.
