Hey Phil,
This sounds awesome. We were actually thinking of doing something very
similar for Maverick, in the form of "Quickstart booklets."

think this would be a perfect chance for some collaboration and our team
would love to help out. I've thought about our strengths, and I think this
plan would work best:
Because the Documentation team has experience in creating documentation for
a specific target audience, I think the docs team should outline the
audience and take some of our content and re-master it so it better suits
the audience. I also think the docs team should work on the online version
of the booklet, and possibly the version to be packaged with Ubuntu by
default.
The Manual team has experience in designing and creating publications for
printing and using LaTeX, as well as handling many translations. We've
already got a lot of stuff set up in LaTeX to handle translations (like set
fonts and rules for LTR languages etc), and I think we should aim to have
this booklet available in a tonne of translations for LoCo teams to use. So,
I propose that the Manual Team work on designing the printed booklet,
distributing it and translating it.
What do you reckon?
I would also like to look into a way that we could share translations which
would save a lot of work.
Thanks!
