I'll echo Kyle's words - Dougie your reaction has come right out of
left field for me. Although I haven't looked up the bug you are
referring to, I did look at the structure of your branch, and I don't
think that the approach you've taken is necessary inconsistent with
mine (i.e. although I haven't looked at the actual documents yet, I
don't see why your work couldn't be merged with a branch derived from
ubuntu-docs). But I noticed that there are only two documents there at
the moment, and I think that adding documents on an individual basis
without importing some of the other documents from the ubuntu-docs
branch is going to be pretty heavy work.
I wasn't trying to supercede the work you've done, I was making some
suggestions, building on a comment Loïc made, to assist with the
development of this very young initiative. Sharing material between
derivatives of documentation is something we've discussed very often
(in particular in relation to xubuntu-docs), and I think we all
recognise as being important.
Sometimes in this community it's right to go ahead and get some work
done, as you have here. But it's equally helpful to discuss options as
a team and to be open to ideas about how to improve workflows and
content. It's part of working collaboratively in a community like this
one. Although I understand how it feels to have people make comments
that you might perceive to be treading on your toes, leaving the
project over something like this would be a waste and isn't really
justified by the attempts of myself and Kyle to help out.
I'm totally ready to listen to objections or concerns, whether
practical or theoretical, to the approach I've proposed. As I say, I
don't think it's inconsistent with using the work that you've already
done. Equally, I'm ready for it not to be adopted. I wasn't
recommending it because of any hidden agenda, just to try and help.
