That sounds sensible.

It looks good. I think the biggest challenge is going to be coming up
with an icon that is small enough not to break the line spacing, and
clear enough to demonstrate what it is for!

One small nitpick - I think it's clearer if instead of linking the
whole phrase "install the packages" to the InstallingSoftware page, I
think just the word "install" should be linked. Otherwise some people
might think that the "install the packages" link would actually
perform the installation, rather than take you to another page. But
others may disagree.

Anyway, I think it's cool.
