Actually, I think a macro is definitely the way to go with this, it's
an excellent idea. It would have two advantages (a) simplify the
markup required, and (b) give us the ability to customise the text and
links later without having to grep through the whole wiki if (e.g.)
Ubuntu moves to PackageKit or something changes in some other way.

Ideally, the macro would do everything for you, so <<Install(foo)>>
would just put the whole line in.

Obviously installing a macro on the server requires some quite serious
sysadmin-pestering (we are still waiting for your other macros to be
installed), but I think it could probably be done.
