Ok, that answers my question too.

But if we're going to use this technology in an attempt to ensure that
as many team members as possible can make the meeting time, I think
we're going to have to include all times over a 24 hour period, rather
than tying it to EST times - I don't think we should necessarily bias
towards any timezone.

I think a weekend is going to be a better option than a weekday, as we
are all volunteer contributors. If a conference (e.g. Penguicon) gets
in the way, we can easily shunt it to another weekend once we have a
time of day that works.
