Yes, the release notes invariably include information about upgrading, so
that's what it refers to. Is this clearer?:
* Upgrade from Ubuntu, Kubuntu, or Edubuntu 8.04 to the Release
Candidate by following the instructions in the release notes referenced
above.

Given that it is reasonably accurate, I think this is a case where the word
variation is good to have, so leaving it as-is.
