You can find information regarding the Doc Team on the wiki page [1] and the
code in Launch Pad [2].  Updates and improvements are made from the start of
the release cycle until the String Freeze, which for Jaunty is March 26th
2009 [3].  As far as authoring tools the documentation source is all in
DocBook XML, so your favorite text editor is my recommendation.  Others may
have better ideas on that though.

One of the simplest ways of getting involved with Ubuntu is to help improve
the documentation... even if only proof reading and providing feedback.  You
can also find help in the #ubuntu-doc IRC channel on freenode.
