Can i run both ubuntu and win vista?

Yes. It is possible. You don't need to have 2 hard drives. Default Ubuntu
installation will guide you to install Ubuntu in same drive, in a different
partition, in a very transparent and easy way.
When you had finished your installation, a menu will appear so that you can
choose which operating system you want to boot. We hope, after some time,
you make Linux to be the default one!
