It sounds like you're really well qualified to work with us - welcome!

At this time in the release cycle the main aim is to proof read and
accuracy check the documentation. If you'd like to help with that,
that would be great. The system documentation can be previewed here:

http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

Put a k or an x before the "ubuntu" to find system documentation for other
derivatives... The serverguide could also use the same treatment:

http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/serverguide/C/index.html

It just depends on what you're interested in mainly!

There is quite an important DVD bug in the Ubuntu documentation that
it would be nice to get fixed - it's for someone with a working hardy
installation and dvd drive...
